40-Year-Old Corey Perry Showing No Signs of Stopping

As another new NHL post-season has begun, a familiar face can be seen playing for the Edmonton Oilers. Corey Perry is now competing in his sixth-consecutive NHL season playoffs. These six (6) appearances include playing for teams such as the Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lighting (2), and now his second (2) appearance with the Edmonton Oilers.

Perry played with the Anaheim Ducks for a total of fourteen (14) seasons. Achieving one Stanley Cup and scoring a grand total of 776 points consisting of 372 goals and 404 assists. Perry also currently leads the Ducks franchise in all time penalty minutes with an astounding 1110 minutes (18.5 hours).

This past regular season, Perry scored 19 goals and 11 assists totaling 30 points through 81 games. 0.37 points per game is quite impressive for the fourth oldest active NHL player, at forty (40) years old.

As the Third round of the 2025-26 NHL playoffs is set to begin, Perry’s presence has been very much known. Through the first eleven (11) games of the postseason, he has scored 7 points consisting of 5 goals and 2 assists. He continues to be a key depth asset to the Oilers team, with a gritty play style and a knack for scoring goals in and around the goal crease. Perry’s current 1-year contract is set to expire July 1, 2025, where he is assumed to become a free agent once again. Will this mark the end of a remarkable career or does Perry still have some more left in the tank?
