Anaheim Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek says contract negotiations with pending restricted free agent Lukas Dostal are underway and will pick back up later this summer.
“We’ve exchanged offers,” Verbeek confirmed on the 100% Hockey With Millard & Shannon podcast. “Dosty’s agent has gone on vacation, so we’ll wait until he’s back and then pick up discussions from there.”
Dostal, 24, set career highs in appearances (54 games) and wins (23) this past season for Anaheim, finishing with a 3.10 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage. He backstopped Czechia to a gold medal at the 2024 IIHF World Championship and was just named to the country’s preliminary roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina — his first Olympic selection.
Verbeek praised Dostal’s growth, noting he stepped up to handle a heavy workload despite the Ducks’ rebuilding phase. Dostal said earlier this year he felt ready for the challenge and wants to keep improving to be a reliable number one goalie in the NHL.
The Ducks also saw captain Radko Gudas named to Czechia’s Olympic roster alongside Dostal, while goaltending prospect Damian Clara was named to Italy’s initial roster for their return to the Olympic tournament.
