Anaheim Ducks, Mason McTavish have not begun Contract Extension Talks
Anaheim Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek says the team has not yet started contract discussions with forward Mason McTavish, who is a restricted free agent this summer.
Speaking on the 100% Hockey With Millard & Shannon podcast, Verbeek said, “I have not spoke to Pat Morrison, who’s McTavish’s agent yet.”
He added that he and McTavish’s camp have only had early calls about “talking about talking,” and no contract offers have been exchanged at this point — unlike with goaltender Lukas Dostal, whose negotiations have already seen offers go back and forth.
Drafted third overall by Anaheim in the 2021 NHL Draft, McTavish has developed into a key piece of the Ducks’ young core. The 22-year-old center finished the 2024–25 season with 22 goals and 52 points in 76 games, bringing his career totals to 60 goals and 140 points in 229 NHL games so far.
With McTavish playing an important role alongside fellow young standouts like Leo Carlsson and Cutter Gauthier, Anaheim fans will be watching closely for updates on when contract talks officially get underway this offseason.
